I'm quite fond of this poem. I wrote it before I fell asleep one night. Enjoy.
The Land of Dreams
I turn; I flee, delving into the world of dreams that awaits me,
A world without boundaries, one that appeals so strongly,
To those longing to escape reality, wanting to bend and manipulate one’s surroundings,
Creating our greatest fantasies, those that we desire most, want for, lust for.
The forces of our desires are sometimes too much to maintain by ourselves,
We long to share it, savour it, live our experiences with another,
An emotion so strong it cannot be described with words, but rather actions.
As our hearts, inflated, long to traverse the planes of our minds,
Off to discover and experience the very essence of imagination,
The epitome of manipulation,
Very being of creation.
Within our conscience we all sing and dance, celebrating into the long hours of the night,
Early hours of the morning, enjoying ourselves to our hearts content.
But be warned; things are not always as they seem, as they tend to differ,
The mind can play tricks, cast illusions upon us,
Looming shadows, menacing silhouettes feasting upon our worst fears,
A land that lours us, traps us, all as if a little game.
So be warned, the land of dreams can be a double edged sword,
One to be treated cautiously and with upmost respect.
So next time, be careful, when entering the void of being,
Experiencing the very essence of imagination,
The epitome of manipulation,
When visiting,
The Land of Dreams.
